Cubic Pyrite Crystals
This specimen features two large, intersecting Pyrite cubes atop a Marlstone matrix, with two smaller cubes peaking out of the large ones. The resulting visual is of two perfect cubes colliding, a striking image and conversation piece as guests insist that the formation cannot be natural. The crystals are embedded lightly in the matrix, allowing the largest possible viewing area for the crystals. Measurements: Specimen: ~7" x 6-1/2" x 3-3/4" Crystal: ~1-1/4" to 1-1/2 each face Location: Navajún, Spain
Pyrite is comprised of Iron and Sulfer, giving it a metallic, golden luster. Although Pyrite is abundant in nature, it is quite rare to find fully defined cubic crystals with the perfection and shine of those from Navajún, Spain, making specimens from that area highly desirable for collectors. Due to the fragile nature of the Pyrite and the surrounding matrix, the specimens are extracted and prepared by hand. They are completely natural - unpolished, unaltered.
