Leptomeryx was a small deer like animal that lived during in the Eocene period in the Dakota areas of North America. It was a type of ruminant and is widely considered to be one of the early ancestors of the modern super-family of pecora, which includes deer, cattle, goats, sheep, giraffes and antelope.
