A partially polished specimen of rhodochrosite. This appears to be the end of two stalactites that had been growing side by side. There is a great depth of color and clarity around the core of the stalactites.

Rhodochrosite (whose name means rose-colored) is commonly found in the form of stalactites and stalagmites in Argentina. The pink or reddish hue is caused by the element manganese. This is a relatively soft stone that ranges between 3.5-4.0 on the Mohs scale of hardness. This stone encourages a positive attitude, rejuvenates the soul, opens the heart chakra, enhances creativity, innovation, and dream states.
