Collection: Cordaitales – Ancestral Conifers

Cordaites mainly grew in the upland areas. Some were large trees, probably nearly 100-feet tall, while others were small and scrambling. Sharing many features with modern conifers, all had trunks containing secondary wood and reproduced by means of seeds and pollen borne by cone- like structures that grew in clusters.
