Finding a Barasaurus specimen in which the head, body & tail have all been preserved is extremely rare. Aside from well-preserved skeleton, this fossil also reveals something extraordinary: gastroliths! Preserved in the abdomen are the stones this animal swallowed to aid in digestion. This is indeed a special piece that would make a prime addition to any collection.

Barasaurus besairiei is an extinct, small, aquatic to semi-aquatic reptile. It lived about 260 million years ago during the Late Permian and Early Triassic periods. Fossils are found only in Madagascar. It had a slender body, a small head, and used stomach stones to help it digest.
