More Information

Denversaurus (meaning "Denver lizard") is a genus of Panoplosaurin Nodosaurid dinosaur from the late Maastrichtian of Late Cretaceous Western North America. Although at one point treated as a junior synonym of Edmontonia by some taxonomists, current research indicates that it is its own distinct Nodosaurid genus.  Its fossils have been uncovered in formations such as the Hell Creek Formation and Lance Formation in South Dakota, Montana, and Wyoming. Estimated at about 6 meters (19.7 feet) long and weighing around 3 tons, it was covered in extensive bony osteoderms and plates, and featured large forward-facing shoulder spines for defense against major predators like Tyrannosaurus and Dakotaraptor.
