More Information

Ankylosaurus was one of the largest armoured dinosaurs with a wide, armoured skull and a large, club-like tail. Sometimes, people will even compare this dinosaur to a tank or armoured bus. It had a horny beak and grinding teeth for its herbivorous diet, as well as a large gut-space for digestion. It got the name Ankylosaurus from the Greek word for “fused lizard”, because bones in its skull and parts of its body were fused together. These dinosaurs roamed around the Western United states and areas in Canada. The largest Ankylosaurus specimen ever found was about 20 feet long, and most likely weighed about 4 tons!
