More Information

Uvarovite was discovered in Russia in 1832 by Germain Henri Hess, who named it after Count Sergei Semenovitch Uvarov. Uvarov was a Russian statesman and mineral collector. It is classified alongside other garnets including andradite and grossular. It is the rarest type of garnet and is known for its sparkling dark green druzy crystals.
