From the Latin word "citrus / citron tree", Citrine is a variety of Quartz and a semiprecious gemstone known for its yellow to golden brown color. It is composed of silica (SiO2) and iron oxide inclusions that cause the yellow hue of the crystal. Natural Citrine has been exposed to heat (typically from the earth's core) during its formation, rather than Heat Treated Citrine, which has been exposed to heat after mining in order to enhance color (heat-treated Amethyst). Metaphysically, Citrine is said to promote clarity of the mind, and aid in success and prosperity-particularly in business.
