Black Amethyst Stalactites
A cluster of dazzling black amethyst druzy crystals in stalactite formations. The elongated structure of each stalactite gives the specimen a fascinating and unique look. The charcoal gray crystals sit upon a custom carved black wooden base.

Amethyst is a variety of quartz which owes its coloration to the presence of iron in the area of its formation. The word Amethyst is derived from ancient Greek meaning "intoxication". It was believed by both ancient Romans and Greeks, if they wore Amethyst or made their goblets of the material, it would help prevent them from becoming intoxicated. However, the most beautiful Amethyst, displaying deep rich purple crystals are mainly in South America.
Black amethyst gets its darker color from hematite inclusions and higher levels of iron than regular Amethyst. These specimens are typically found in Uruguay
