xA single Boleite crystal embedded in a rough chunk of its matrix (host) rock.
Measurements: ~4-1/4" long x 3-1/4" wide x 2" deep
Location: Mexico
Boleite, was first found in Mexico in 1891. It was found in Boleo, a region of the Baja peninsula that later became known for other rare minerals. Since being found, it has undergone several revisions regarding its chemical composition and structure. Collectors of gems and minerals are attracted to Boleite due to its unusual chemical composition, crystal structure (pseudocubically twinned), and beautiful indigo-blue transparent color. Besides Mexico, Boleite can be found in Australia, Arizona-USA, and England.
