More Information

Kunzite is the most well known variety of the mineral spodumene. It was discovered in 1902 by gemologist George Frederick Kunz (this is where Kunzite got its name). It gets its light pink/purple color from trace amounts of manganese. The color of Kunzite can fade in sunlight, and for that reason it should not be displayed in direct sunlight.
